Mike's 1974 AMC Gremlin X
Powered by a 401ci AMC engine that's bored 40 over with a forged steel crank, rods and pistons which was all balanced. The compression is 11:1 which gives this bad boy a sound to hear! The 596 custom grind cam pushes a set of solid lifters and chromemoly pushrods. On the top of this beast is a set of Edelbrock 600cfm carburetors on a Offenhauser dual quad intake. The heads are a set of 51cc Dogleg's that are Pocket ported and have a 3 angle valve job. The valves were oversized to 2.08 intakes and 1.74 exhaust, and matched with a set of 986 Comp Cam springs. There's a set of Steel Alloy retainers, 10 Degree super locks, Teflon valve seals and 1.6 Roller Rockers to top it off.
The ignition is fed by a Holley strip annilator ignition box, an MSD distributor and a laser shot coil.
The GM 2 speed power-glide has a full manual valve body, Trans-brake, SFI flywheel and a 3800 stall torque.
There was a 6 point roll cage added and a fiber glass front end. Frame connectors and the bumpers were replaced with aluminum ones.
